The KFX Land Speed Car..... More to come soon.....

The KFX Sephia Test Mule

This is the car that started KFX. Originally most of us had Sephias and could not find anything that would work on our cars other than what we could fabricate and adapt from other cars.

I had someone approach me and ask if I wanted a body kit for my car. I knew there were none out there and really had no idea what I wanted it to look like. We had a small meet in San Antonio and a new friend Caesar picked out the front bumper you see. We had side skirts to match the side of the car and the rear was something that I liked.

At this point, I had already replace the restrictive exhaust system from the cat back with a 2 1/4 exhaust and a turbo type muffler. What I was really looking for was some performance out of this little car and was not getting it. My guy that was looking after making the project happen was taking forever to get it back to me and I honestly thought he had stolen my car and taken it to California. Sure enough the car came back from California with the kit on it and I saw the quality of work we were able to achieve. My next project was the exhaust headers. He found someone to build them for us, but after his markup we were selling these things for over $400 a set. Delivery time was terrible up to 6 months and I had to order a batch of 20 at a time and put all of the cash out up front. Group buys were the order of the day and no one knew when the pieces would arrive. We also had a powder coated intake made for the car and we had the beginnings of something that made a difference. Streetkiaz was well underway at this point and Mark and I agreed that we needed both websites in order to make ourselves successful in any way.

The next body piece to come along was the carbon fiber hood, I was told by developer that I needed to buy 10 of them and then I would own the mold and the rights to the car. I paid him for half and then he got the projected started. Once I saw pictures of the finished pieces, I paid him the second half. He proceeded to disappear with over $6000 of my cash along with all of the contacts. I was pretty much out of business but could see the potential. I called all of the businesses in Southern California that I could think of that might have made my products at this point. I found the company making the hoods. I found out that my partner had initiated the project and had disappeared on them also. We were both out a load of cash and my customers were screaming to get their pieces. I made a decision to credit card finance this project and get the hoods out to those that had started the group buy.

The company was about to fail completely, and it was time to start over. I contacted one of my competitors and made arrangements to buy products. I bought back a bunch of the pieces that I had sold and sent them to him to get the projects restarted with someone else. He was able to find some of my suppliers. Megan racing had copied one of my headers and was selling it on the internet. I contacted them and became their sole Kia shipper.

Soon we were back in business. we had the header and intake, secured shipping of our strut bars. We were adding to the line for not only the Sephia and now the Spectra but also the new Rio and others. Contacts were made with some Korean and Chinese companies along with Colt cams for some regrinds on our cams out of Canada. We were also able to get the Élan cams out of the little Korean sports car that Kia made. Ideas were flowing from our Streetkiaz supporters.

Items such as our valve cover insert, light weight crank pulley and powder coated valve cover became very popular. Suspension pieces were starting to come together, we became the number one seller of Kia Suspension pieces and the test mule was outfitted with Eibach springs, Whiteline sway bars and much wider and taller low profile wheels and tires.

By this time we also had Green Stuff brake pads along with cross drilled rotors and stainless brake lines.

All of the pieces that have been tested are listed on the sidebar. I want to thank all of those that have contributed ideas and links for performance and appearance pieces. Without those individuals we would certainly not be to the point we are today.

We are currently working on software that will allow us to modify the various ecu's used on our cars and should be out with it soon.
