T8D Header
[1998-04 1.8l]

after some complications and misunderstandings, some of which was on my part, i got the header set.

any questions i had went straight to bill and knowledgable (sp?) members of SK.

i did my install w/ no issues this time, and i am surprised what a difference this product makes in addition to my custom CAI, custom 2.25" exuaust, high flow cat, and muffler! there's a nice, deep, subtle rumble while it's idling, and at WOT - man, it just gets up and goes! needless to say, the butt dyno did not fail me! if your muffler has a removable silencer, take a test drive w/ and w/o it. big difference in get up and go! still, i have YET to get the resonator put in!

however, i did have to enlarge the bolt holes on the header, get a replacement header/downpipe gasket from a 02+ Impreza, and extra header/downpipe connecting bolts and locking washers (using the spec. torque of 29-34 ft.-lbs on the locking washers tends to strip them smooth; then again, i used 34 ft.-lbs on all the related bolts for this install). make sure the conecting bolts have a tight seal if you don't plan on getting extra gaskets - failure to do so can lead to a plugged cat and tranny problems; i know from personal experience.

dispite the minor setbacks, this is a worthwhile product to start adding power to the T8D. great for the beginning modder/ weekend mechanic. w/ the tools i had, took me 3 hours by myself.

side note: after double checking all the bolts are torqued down, take the time to use some rubbing alcohol on the parts to clean up any natural oils your hands may have left on the header.
